A Room of Your Own:
An art therapy workshop for moms ready to take time for themselves
Meet yourself again
- and let art therapy help you do it.
You’re deeply immersed in motherhood, and while that’s beautiful, it leaves little room to see yourself and your own needs clearly.
I know, because I’ve been there.
As a mom of two who is also a psychologist trained in art therapy, I’m building what I was (and still sometimes am) craving - a space and time dedicated to connecting with myself again.
This workshop creates space for you to reconnect with your needs and desires,
in a fresh, insightful and empowering way.
No special creative talent or experience needed!
The cost of postponing yourself
As we become moms, our own feelings and needs often get pushed aside, as we keep thinking we’ll get to them…someday.
The demands and needs of everyone else are big and loud, and your own inner voice fades into the background.
But, your needs don’t disappear.
Your ignored inner voice - the voice of your own desires - starts speaking to you in other ways…
❖ as persistent annoyance you can’t shake off,
❖ as the frequent feeling of wanting to escape the moment,
❖ as frustration or anger bigger than the situation calls for,
❖ as the discomfort of not feeling quite like yourself
The invitation to pause and process
The purpose of these uncomfortable feelings is is getting you to notice that something in you is asking, wanting, hoping to be seen and listened to.
So you can wait until you are forced to face these inner yearnings - until the pressure builds to a point where it can’t be ignored and bursts out, leaving you feeling guilty and more disconnected from yourself and your loved ones around you.
Or you can choose to pause and look inside yourself intentionally.
With curiosity and kindness, letting some of that pressure out and replacing it with self-compassion and understanding, making it easier to go about your days with more presence and joy.
Virginia Woolf wrote that every woman needs a room of her own. This is yours.
For two glorious, uninterrupted hours, you get to create for yourself, and about yourself.
What we will do & how art therapy helps you
Art therapy isn't an art class. You don't need talent, experience, or even a particular affinity for making things.
It's a way of using simple guided creative activities simple hands-on activities (e.g. drawing, clay modelling, writing, and more) to access what's hard to reach through words alone.
When we turn our abstract experiences into tangible forms we can actually see, it’s easier to figure out what to do with them.
We spot patterns more easily, see our blind spots more clearly, and get a new perspective on what’s been happening within us.
Art therapy is an amazing way of making sense of complex experiences, and being a human, a woman, a mom in this world is certainly complex. It’s easier when we don’t have to carry our burdens alone, and when we have the tools to understand ourselves better.
Art-making engages both the mind and the body, the conscious and the unconscious, in order to access emotions and insights that words alone cannot.
Creating something and reflecting on it with my help allows you to reach the parts of you that don’t get much airtime in regular conversation or everyday life. You don’t have to have anything figured out. You are simply invited to show up, make something, and notice what emerges.
How can I feel connected to myself, as a mom
What am I enjoying, and what am I finding most challenging
