A Room of Your Own:
An art-making workshop for moms to take up space for themselves
Motherhood asks a lot of us.
And while you’re deeply immersed in it, there’s little room to see yourself clearly.
This workshop creates space for you to reconnect with with your own needs and desires, while honoring all your roles.
The cost of postponing yourself
As we become moms, our own feelings and needs often get pushed aside, as we keep thinking we’ll get to them…someday.
But most days are filled with caring, coordinating, responding, and holding everything together, leaving little time for anything else. Logistics, responsibilities, and needs of others keep feeling more urgent and louder than our own inner voice whispering what we truly need.
But - luckily, even though it might not always feel like that - this inner voice doesn’t disappear, even when it’s been forced to stay quiet for a while.
Your ignored inner voice speaks in other ways…
❖ as persistent low-grade annoyance you can’t seem to shake off,
❖ as the feeling of wanting to escape moments you know you’ll miss one day but being unable to stay present as they’re happening,
❖ as frustration or anger that feels bigger than the situation calls for,
❖ as the uncomfortable pause that happens when you’re asked about your personal desires or plans and you’re missing an answer.
It does not feel good, but it does serve a purpose.
The purpose is getting you to notice that something in you is asking, wanting, hoping to be seen and listened to.
The invitation to pause and process
We can wait until we are forced to face these inner yearnings - until the pressure builds to a point where it can’t be ignored and bursts out, often leaving disconnection and damage in its wake.
Or we can choose to pause and look inside ourselves intentionally, with curiosity and kindness, letting some of that pressure out and replacing it with self-compassion and understanding.
Virginia Woolf wrote that every woman needs a room of her own. This is yours - for two glorious, uninterrupted hours.
How can I feel connected to myself, as a mom
What am I enjoying, and what am I finding most challenging
What feels right for me in this stage of life
What would I like to have more space for
How have I changed, and what feels important to me now
Together, we’ll explore themes such as:
There are no right or wrong answers to be found here.
This is not another place to feel judged or judge yourself as a mom.
It is simply an honest and gentle meeting with yourself.
A meeting designed to nurture you, to help you:
❖ see yourself from different perspectives,
❖ explore your inner world in all its beauty and strength,
❖ appreciate all sides of you.
Please note…
When you see and feel yourself clearly
it’s easier to know whee you’d like to go next,
Come take up some space.
What we will do & what is art-making
In this creative workshop, we’ll use art-making in the form of simple hands-on activities (e.g. drawing, clay modelling, writing, and more).
Art-making is an amazing tool for making sense of complex experiences, and being a mom is certainly one of them.
When we turn abstract experiences into tangible forms, it’s easier to figure out what to do with them. We spot patterns more easily, see our blind spots more clearly, and get a new perspective on what’s been happening within us.
Art-making is a very powerful way of engaging both the mind and the body, the conscious and the unconscious, in order to access emotions and insights that words alone cannot, to reach the parts of us that stay quiet in conversation.
It doesn't demand that you have the right words, or that you've already figured things out. It simply invites you to show up, make something, and notice what emerges. At the same time, it adapts easily to the level of depth you’re comfortable with in the moment, never forcing you to go somewhere you don’t want to go.
Who this is for
This workshop is for mothers at any stage who feel the pull to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves - no creative experience required.
You don’t have to think of yourself as creative at all, to be able to use and benefit from this creative process.

What women say about my workshops…
Important to know :
Your wellbeing and privacy are of highest importance to me as a psychologist. That’s why I invite feedback anonymously rather than asking for testimonials.
It allows me to provide others a sense of the workshops while keeping everyone’s experiences private and free from pressure to perform.
In summary…
In this thoughtfully designed 2-hr workshop, I’ll guide you to see yourself from a fresh perspective.
We’ll use creative tools to give shape to what you feel, so you can see what truly matters, and connect more easily with the parts of you that often get lost in the everyday demands of motherhood.
You will go home with…
At least one insight you can bring into daily life
A sense of relief, validation, and groundedness
A felt reconnection with parts of yourselves beyond caregiving - your desires, energy, and sense of self
Clarity about what you need right now
Hi, I’m Eva.
I’m a psychologist, a trained art therapy facilitator, and a mom of two loving and living joyfully in Amsterdam.
I’ve both lost and found myself in motherhood, and I know how intense and exhausting, joyful and tender it can be.
I’m here to help you make sense of it all and reconnect with yourself.
To help you navigate life and motherhood with more self-trust and self-compassion. So that you can embrace the glorious joy of it more easily, without glossing over the hard parts. I’m so glad you’re here.
